Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA) on Friday 19th July, 2024 arrested Mr. Johnson with the assistance of Policemen from Alausa Police Station following his aggressive conduct against the staff of the Agency on Thursday 18th July, 2024 during the sealing of Orient Eye Clinic located at 321 Junction, beside B-Joy Restaurant, Festac.
Mr. Johnson who claimed to be a lawyer challenged the Agency’s staff when he got to the scene of the incident and removed the two seals on the locked door in the presence of HEFAMAA staff.
Orient Eye Clinic applied manually for registration in the year 2017 but did not complete the registration process. The facility has not reapplied through the Agency’s electronic portal which commenced operation about four years ago. Hence, the facility has been operating illegally in contravention of Section 60 of the Lagos State Health Sector Reform (HSR) Law 2006. Mr. Johnson also contravened Section 72 of the HSR Law by obstructing duly authorised person from the Agency from carrying out their legal duties. He was arrested the next day by operatives of the Alausa Police Station for questioning and prosecution.
