The Lagos State Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA) has shut down First Choice Clinic Limited for alleged quackery as a result of discrepancies in the documents tendered by the medical practitioner in charge, Dr Elphetoh Suzan Bahget.
The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr Abiola Idowu who stated this yesterday in her office in Alausa, Ikeja, explained that the facility located at 25B Glover Road, Ikoyi, was shut down on Tuesday, 2nd May 2023 to enable the Agency carry out verification of the documents from the relevant authorities in line with the mandate of the Agency of zero tolerance for quackery.
She further disclosed that HEFAMAA also shut down some facilities offering Aesthetic and Cosmetic services for non-registration with the Agency. ‘’The Agency has deemed it fit to intensify regulatory oversight in this regard because of the rate at which facilities offering Aesthetic services and administering intravenous drugs are springing up in the state,’’ she explained.

The Executive Secretary, however, underscored that pursuant to its mandate, the Agency will continue its efforts to safeguard the health of the citizens by ensuring that the facilities operating in Lagos State comply with the set standards for the delivery of quality health care in the state.
She also advised the public to continue supporting the Agency by reporting unprofessional conduct and illegal operators of health facilities in their communities.
