REQUIREMENTS FOR APPROVAL FOR COVID-19 MANAGEMENT
1. Assessment of the facility by Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA), Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Pillar of Lagos State COVID-19 Response and the Lagos State Infrastructure and Asset Management Agency (LASIAMA) to ensure the IPC preparedness and capacity of the proposed site for the management of COVID-19.
2. Criteria for Approval:
The following criteria must be met for approval for COVID-19 management:
i. Biosafety / Biosecurity Compliance
ii. Infrastructural layout with clear delineation of clean (green) and infectious (red) areas.
iii. Adequate number of Qualified and Suitable healthcare workers
iv. Training of selected healthcare workers on Infection Prevention and Control and Case Management.
v. Adequate Medical Equipment
vi. Adequate Ventilation
vii. Appropriate Waste Management.
3. Categories of COVID-19 Centres.
i. Isolation Centre 1: These are single built rooms with adequate ventilation, toilet and bathroom used for the purpose of separating suspected COVID -19 cases away from non-COVID-19 cases.
ii. Isolation Centre 2: are purposely used for isolation and treatment of confirmed cases of COVID-19.
iii. Hybrid of Isolation Centres 1 and 2: have rooms for isolation of suspected cases as well for isolation and treatment of confirmed cases of COVID-19.
iv. Intensive Care Unit: used for management of critically ill COVID-19 patients with complications.
v. Holding Centre: are single built rooms with adequate ventilation, toilet and bathroom used as quarantine or accommodation for corporate entities during the period of COVID -19.
vi. Walk-In Sample Collection Centre: are centres used for the collection of samples from suspected COVID-19 cases, which are then transported to approved COVID-19 laboratories
vii. In-Patient Sample Collection/ Approved Validated Rapid Diagnostic Testing Kits: are COVID-19 Testing Laboratories, for the collection and testing of samples from suspected COVID-19 patients.
4. A Letter of Intent to the Honorable Commissioner clearly indicating the proposed category of the facility for COVID-19 management should be sent to gfmo@lagosstate.gov.ng, and a copy sent to hefamaa@lagosstate.gov.ng
5. Submission of the floor plan or layout of the proposed site.
